Our story

History of Care For Uganda

Founded in 2001, Care For Uganda initially worked in the Bukasa area of Kampala, including the slums of Katongole.  In addition to starting the Child Sponsorship programme, it built a school, a clinic and an orphanage.  It has since handed these buildings over to Ugandan nationals for them to administer.

In addition to Bukasa, Care For Uganda now works in Bbowa and Kalule in the Luwero District and in Banda in the Mukono District.

Sustainable Development Goals

Much of the work of Care for Uganda falls within the scope of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The aim is to achieve these goals by 2030.

There are seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – these form a blueprint agreed to by all the world’s countries and leading development institutions. They have galvanized unprecedented efforts to meet the needs of the world’s poorest.
