Recent research has shown a high level of sexual assaults on girls and young ladies in rural areas. The research looked at the potential causes behind this.
It indicated that not wearing a bra may be a contributory factor. This is obviously not acceptable. Having discussed this issue with Dr Okware, the District Health Officer for Luwero, we have launched a programme to try to play a part in reducing the high level of sexual assaults.
The Care for Uganda Field Officer has started to visit schools to engage young people in discussions about this topic. Care for Uganda are able to supply bras to those unable to afford to buy their own.
