Livestock is very precious in Uganda and gives a means for a family to generate income and food.
Care for Uganda give two piglets to a poor family, one male and one female. When these piglets grow up and have babies some of the pigs can be bred and have even more piglets. Some pigs can be sold and some pigs can be eaten. This means that over a period of time the standard of living for these families who have been given the piglets starts to get better. Gradually this family can begin to rise above poverty.
Each family that takes part in the scheme will gives two piglets back to Care for Uganda so we are then able to help yet another family.
For Muslim families a pregnant goat would be given.
